My Other Blogs

I have not posted on this blog in years, as it was my first attempt at a blog and I didn't really have the time to tend to it nor did I know what to post. Since then I have started three other blogs that I regularly post on:

Phyllis Loves Classic Movies - a look at movies and movie history from the advent of "talkies" through the 1960s and the stars that made them possible

Bewitched with Classic TV - where I look at classic TV shows (right now it's Samantha's wardrobe in Bewitched)

Solidmoonlight - where I post everything else (recipes, crafts, old photos, discoveries)

Take a look!

Gramarcy Park

Paris Holiday

This is another hilarious movie with Bob Hope. I watched it over the summer. Go to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052047/ to read the summary. The best part is when he's hanging onto the helicopter.

Audrey Meadows

Do these two look alike are what? The one on the left is Audrey Meadows from The
Honey- mooners, which is a classic. The one on the right is Allison Scagliotti from Drake and Josh. She plays Mindy Crenshaw, Josh's girlfriend.

Audrey Meadows is my current idol. She is such a beautiful lady.

Quote: "You as you are better by far than the you that you are trying to be."

The Honeymooners:

Ralph: I have - I've got an explanation. A perfect one. I'm a dope. Not a run-of-the-mill dope, the world's champ. For years I've been taking for granted the most wonderful thing that's ever happened to me - you. I've never shown you the appreciation you deserve, Alice. You could walk outta that door right now and I wouldn't blame you. You deserve something better than me. There are a million guys who'd give you anything if they could have a girl like you.

Alice: Ralph, I don't want a million. There's just one guy I want: you.

Ralph: Baby, you're the greatest.

The Honeymooners Christmas

Ralph: You know something, sweetheart? Christmas is... well, it's about the best time of the whole year. When you walk down the streets, even for weeks before Christmas comes, and there's lights hanging up, green ones and red ones, sometimes there's snow and everyone's hustling some place. But they don't hustle around Christmastime like they usually do. You know, they're a little more friendlier... they bump into you, they laugh and they say, "Pardon me. Merry Christmas"... especially when it gets real close to Christmas night. Everybody's walking home, you can hardly hear a sound. Bells are ringin', kids are singing, the snow is coming down. And boy what a pleasure it is to think that you've got some place to go to. And that the place that you're going to, there's somebody in it that you really love. Some one you're nuts about. Merry Christmas.

HELP!

Help! follows in the great tradition of classic comedy chase movies. In this instance, John, Paul, George and Ringo find themselves being pursued across the world by not one but two groups of fanatics with separate agendas. Ringo possesses a ring with a large red stone set in the middle, sent to him by a fan. The first group of fanatics are cult followers of the Goddess Kaili led by Swami Clang (Leo McKern), including High Priestess Ahme (Eleanor Bron); and the second group are comprised of two scientists named Foot (Victor Spinetti) and Algernon (Roy Kinnear) who have become involved, being called in by the Government to try and remove the ring from Ringo's finger. source
Help! is one of the most awesome movies ever. There are such hilarious lines in it. Ringo totally rocks in this film. Every time I watch Help! I go around the house singing the songs and quoting it. It would be so awesome to own the $60 DVD set with the complete script! Go to www.beatles.com/help and check out the cool stuff!

Ringo: Eh, someone's got a hold of me finger.

Snow Queen

This is just an old picture that I think
is really cool. You can imagine so
many different adventures happening with it. It's a good picture to fantasize about.

Green Poodles

Just a quick history of where I got my blog name: The Green Poodles by Charlotte Baker is a story of a girl and her champion poodle, Juliet, who travels from England to stay with her only surviving relatives, the Greens of Pond Farm. "A Green is a Green and Greens stick together." They start a dog kennel for money with the help of C.O. Seymour, the author of The Poodle Primer. The book tells how they train their dogs and enter them in dog shows. Every time the Westminster Dog Show is on I am in the mood to read this book. It is an awesome book with great illustrations. The only problem is, my copy is missing a page on one of the suspenseful parts. I forget about it every time I start to read it and then I get to that part and wish I knew what happened. Then I keep reading it and forget about it until they refer to that part of the book again. My mom read it aloud to me and my brothers when we were little and I have read it several times on my own. Read it! Another great dog show book is The Shy Ones by Lynn Hall.

The Searchers

What makes a man to wander?

What makes a man to roam?

What makes a man leave bed and board

And turn his back on home?

Ride away, ride away, ride away.

This is the opening song of one of the most touching movies of all time. All of the misic in this movie is beautiful, espacially Lorena, which is an old Civil War song. My favorite part is when Ethan Edwards (Wayne) picks up Debbie (Natalie Wood) and says, "Let's go home Debbie." I get a lump in my throat and get all teary eyed at that part. Here's a link where you can buy the downloads for all of the songs, or just listen to them online, www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=127502 ! They're on the right hand side. Listen to the first two and # 36.

A man will search his heart and soul, Go searchin' way out there

His peace of mind he knows he'll find, But where, O Lord, Lord where?

Ride away, ride away.
