Snow Queen

This is just an old picture that I think
is really cool. You can imagine so
many different adventures happening with it. It's a good picture to fantasize about.

Green Poodles

Just a quick history of where I got my blog name: The Green Poodles by Charlotte Baker is a story of a girl and her champion poodle, Juliet, who travels from England to stay with her only surviving relatives, the Greens of Pond Farm. "A Green is a Green and Greens stick together." They start a dog kennel for money with the help of C.O. Seymour, the author of The Poodle Primer. The book tells how they train their dogs and enter them in dog shows. Every time the Westminster Dog Show is on I am in the mood to read this book. It is an awesome book with great illustrations. The only problem is, my copy is missing a page on one of the suspenseful parts. I forget about it every time I start to read it and then I get to that part and wish I knew what happened. Then I keep reading it and forget about it until they refer to that part of the book again. My mom read it aloud to me and my brothers when we were little and I have read it several times on my own. Read it! Another great dog show book is The Shy Ones by Lynn Hall.

The Searchers

What makes a man to wander?

What makes a man to roam?

What makes a man leave bed and board

And turn his back on home?

Ride away, ride away, ride away.

This is the opening song of one of the most touching movies of all time. All of the misic in this movie is beautiful, espacially Lorena, which is an old Civil War song. My favorite part is when Ethan Edwards (Wayne) picks up Debbie (Natalie Wood) and says, "Let's go home Debbie." I get a lump in my throat and get all teary eyed at that part. Here's a link where you can buy the downloads for all of the songs, or just listen to them online, www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=127502 ! They're on the right hand side. Listen to the first two and # 36.

A man will search his heart and soul, Go searchin' way out there

His peace of mind he knows he'll find, But where, O Lord, Lord where?

Ride away, ride away.

Son of Paleface

Today I watched Son of Paleface. It is one of my favorite Bob Hope movies. If you haven't seen it, you should find a copy right now and watch it! It has some great jokes in it. Check out my video bar!

Favorite quotes: "I like to kiss this girl because she has just the kind of lips I like: one on top and one on the bottom."

"You should of heard that line."

Clarence

This book is the third book about Clarence. I discovered it today. I thought there were only two: Clarence the TV Dog and Clarence Goes to Town. They are two of my favorite books and I have a lot of books. I have over 100 in my bedroom and a huge list of over 500 that I have read. Most of them have been read multiple times. I LOVE OLD CHILDREN'S BOOKS!!!!

Purpose of This Blog

This blog is going to be devoted to the good things in life: old books, movies, music, and other vintage stuff from the 40's, 50's, and 60's.
